INTRODUCING Mia Reay

When Finnish-born artist Mia Reay (above) was looking for hand-painted wallpapers for her house in Lancashire, she was astonished by the prices. With large walls to cover, she felt she could not justify the expense and so decided to design some herself. She hand-painted panels and had them digitally reproduced, ensuring each design retained the charm of the original.

This sparked her creativity, so she decided to fill what she saw as a gap in the market and produce the wallpapers for sale. The seven designs are inspired by historical patterns, including the bold motifs of Persian ceramics that are referenced in ‘Utopia’ (pictured). In an effort to support local businesses and reduce her carbon footprint, the wallpapers are produced in the UK and are made to order.
